Entry from: Tangier, Morocco Entry Title: “Adventures in Africa” Entry: “The journey to Tangier, Morocco started at 4am on a Thursday morning. Having experienced travel in Spain multiple times by now, we planned a big cushion for the worst and it all went very smoothly. Our first flight from Valencia to Madrid left at 7am, so we caught the earliest metro to the airport possible. All 8 of us spent the night in the apartment closest to the metro, “close” being a relative term –we still had to walk about a mile, toting our luggage, to the nearest metro stop. We took the subway all the way to the entrance of the Valencia airport. We made it perfectly in time for our flight, which was surprisingly shorter than we expected. With RyanAir, it seems that the flights are always delayed by about 20-30 minutes, which they apparently factor into the “arrival time” so that every flight arrives on schedule regardless. It’s actually a great idea because we weren’t so worried about making our connecting flight in Madrid, which, of course, was also delayed by 30 minutes. When we finally got to Tangier we were in disbelief. It is still strange to me how easy it is to travel outside of the US without relying on a car. Even the relatively small metro system in Valencia puts MARTA to shame. RyanAir is an extremely easy way

Entry from: Casablanca, Morocco Entry Title: “Marrakech Express” Entry: “Wow, it has been awhile since I’ve written. 2 big reasons for this…. I misplaced my computer. I didn’t exactly lost it because I know where it is but I am not in possession of it. Embarassing story really but when we were flying our red-eye Barcelona to Marrkech, I stacked my security trays when going thru the terminal security line, laptop was in bottom tray, purse and shoes in the top one. I put my shoes back on, got my stuff together and walked off, leaving my laptop there. I then got on the plane, flew to Morocco, checked in to the hotel, went to bed, went on a city tour 4 hours later and not until the next afternoon when I tried to work on a paper did I realize that my computer was NOT in my bag. Sooooo, I used my best Spanish (which is ****) to talk to Lost and Found at Barcelona airport and found out that they do indeed have it. My professor helped me out to determine that no, they would not send it to Marrakech airport on the next flight and yes, I can pick it up on my layover en route to London. So it’s all good, as long as I have the time between flights to pick it up on the 6th. I’ve been working on my classes for 1 week by borrowing other people’s computers. PAIN IN THE ASS. But that’s the story, that’s main

Entry from: Rabat, Morocco Entry Title: “Finally a new country!” Entry: “Hey alrighty we have made our way from Egypt, via an interesting flight from Cairo (5 hours!) to Casablanca, from where we made our way to Rabatm the capital of Morocco… It’s quite the change from Egypt! It’s nice and clean and fairly calm (compared to Cairo at least…) We toured around the city: we hit the beach, some picturesque roman ruins (with even more storks than Selcuk) and just relaxed… It’s a lovely calm city… Interestingly enough, the one time that I went out without Sam to get some things sorted and I have invitiations to visit 2 people now in Rabat… And thank god for speaking French, because here it is just as widely spoken as Arabic… Hallelujah…” Read and see more at: www.travelpod.com Photos from this trip: 1. “Around Rabat” 2. “Chellah encore” 3. “Out of the Old Town” 4. “Stork 1″ 5. “Stork 2″ 6. “Chellah 3″ 7. “Chellah 4″ 8. “Chellah 5″ 9. “Chellah 6″ 10. “Wow I’m quite puny” 11. “Chellah 7″ 12. “Stork 3″ 13. “Chellah 8″ 14. “Stork 4″ 15. “Creepy cats” 16. “Fields around Chellah” 17. “Chellah 9″ 18. “Baby Stork” 19. “Stork 5″ 20. “Stork 6″ 21. “Chellah 10″ 22. “Around Rabat town center” 23. “Lighthouse” 24. “Crash! Before the event he had a change of heart, and decided he did not think he would have enough time to fit paragliding into his life. After 2 flights and about 45 mins airtime (about 20 mins with mike on the controls whilst i filmed) he changed his mind and is hoping to get on a course with us to the Dune de Pyla.
