Marrakech medersa (Morocco)

Here is a modest corner of the Ali Ben Youssef Medersa in Marrakech, formerly housing (religious) students in honour of God and the Sultan who build it.
In Marrakech, countless riads (hotels with a more or less traditional interior around an innercourt) compete on decoration rather than price. One glimpse on any part of the Ali Ben Youssef Medersa learns you the futility of all these riad beautification attempts – as they will never compare to this 16th century masterpiece.
Sorry in these matters our noncommittal age is no match for former times.
